What happened to Dean and Rog?

The Dean and Rog Show was a hit show, running for 20 years.

There are so many radio stations, and some of them have really good radio shows. But do all shows run for decades? Well, only the good ones that have made space in people’s hearts have run for decades, and The Dean and Rog Show is one of them.

The Dean and Rog Show was a fan-favorite

We have enjoyed this show for a long time and it quickly became a fan favorite and remained with that for over two decades.

However, The Dean and Rog Show has abruptly stopped airing on The Eagle 106.9 and 107.5, which was weird and unexpected.

Dean Myers and Roger Beaty have given life to the show and lots of laughter to the morning listeners of Houston for over 20 years.

There have been many episodes that have won locals’ hearts, thanks to their humor and popular segments like the “Birthday Scam.”

Abrupt Changes

However, when The Dean and Rog Show stopped airing in December 2024, it left fans in shock and wondering what happened.

There was no prior announcement or hints regarding the show going off-air, which created many speculations.

What happened to Dean and Rog?

Dean and Rog and their other co-hosts, Kelly Ryan and Rusty, and their entire show, The Dean and Rog Show, are terminated.

There is no specific information revealed by The Eagle or the hosts of the show on why they left it.

However, according to Wikipedia’s latest entry, Dean, Rog, and their other co-hosts were terminated.

Well, it didn’t mention the reasons but the hushed rumors are that it happened due to the ongoing changes in the radio industry.

The Sudden Changes in the Morning

Houston blogger Mike McGuff was the first to notice the absence of Dean and Rog in their allotted time slot.

Instead of the fun banter and humorous start of the morning, the station played music, which was pretty suspicious.

Eagle’s Website Deleted the Show’s Page

What’s more surprising is that Eagle’s official website has deleted the show’s page and broken every fan’s heart.

However, they were keen enough to praise Dean and Rog and their entire show. They mentioned how the show’s legacy is unforgettable but stayed silent on the details of departure.

The new morning show was now taken over by Outlaw Dave but locals still miss Dean and Rog and no one else can take their replacement for sure.

Changes in the Radio Industry became the Reason

Even though it is not confirmed, local speculations and many reports have said that the recent changes in the radio industry are behind the abrupt end of The Dean and Rog Show.

You must have heard that in April 2023, Urban One bought The Eagle’s parent company, Cox Media Group.

Since the purchase, the company has made major changes and The Dean and Rog Show might have become part of these changes and ramifications.

Although Urban One hasn’t confirmed these reports, it did definitely celebrate Dean and Rog’s impact on Houston radio.
