Lana Del Rey married her boyfriend, Jeremy Dufrene, in a shock wedding on September 26. This came just a month after she had made her relationship public. The two got married at Swamp Boat Harbor in Louisiana in an intimate wedding ceremony.
Dufresne, a swamp and alligator tour guide, seemed an unlikely match for Rey at the moment, but it turns out that she isn’t the only celebrity she has had a connection with.
Remember Glen Powell of Top Gun: Maverick fame? The film which had Tom Cruise? Well, he is also a friend of Dufrene. Back in 2015, Powell posted a picture of himself and Dufrene on Instagram, with the caption:
“J-Bone and G-Trash. We’re both single and ready to mingle. Find us on the swamp at the Daiquiris To-Go place next door or on Craigslist Personals. Sorry for partying. (Not sorry).”
As someone who grew up in Texas, Powell explored the Bayou quite a lot. And when he relocated to New Orleans in 2015 after being cast in Scream Queens, he was delighted and started going out on swamp tours regularly. That’s when he met Jeremy Dufrene. “He would let me drive sometimes, you know, help with the tour”, he said of Dufrene at the Kelly Clarkson show in 2024.
He also said that the two had discussed whether the high disappearance rates in New Orleans had anything to do with the swamps and its alligators.
He said that Dufrene had told him that once you remove a person’s hair and teeth, the alligators would finish off the rest with ease. “We kind of looked out at the swamp for a bit, and he goes, ‘Why do you need anything?'” Powell said.
Lana Del Rey has had a very mysterious past and has kept her dating history under tight wraps, away from all scrutiny. Despite that, her break up with police officer Sean Larkin had made headlines in 2020.
She also spoke about her ex-fiance, Barrie James O’Neilin, back in 2014. But overall, not much is known about her dating life. Her love life has been the subject of speculation, with some even wondering whether her songs about toxic love reflect on her life as well.
Although the wedding happened just one month after the public reveal, a Facebook picture has revealed that the two possibly knew each other from much before, as early as 2019.
