Venom has been the most successful franchise of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe and the other two movies (Madame Web and Morbius) disappointed the SSU with their very low performance. Venom 3’s trailer has received an enormous response and is expected to perform exceptionally well but Sony has to be ready with Kraven The Hunter to continue the effect.
We should acknowledge the fact that Sony’s SSU is currently running without the main character, i.e. Spider-Man so it entirely depends on other characters. The anti-hero character, Venom received an unexpected response in 2018 with its first movie and generated over $856.1 million, Venom: Let There Be Carnage also gained over $506.9 million in 2021.
Venom 3 is scheduled for release on October 25, 2024. The eyes of fans will be entirely on Kraven, The Hunter, after the end of the Venom trilogy. The fans are wondering about Sony’s SSU because it doesn’t have plans if Kraven underperforms. The main character (Spider-Man) is missing from its universe so the anti-hero characters have to take the lead.
Kraven The Hunter has a lot of Hopes and SSU’s future depends on him
Without a doubt, Kraven is one of the most iconic villains of Spider-Man, whose mission is to hunt and kill him. The trailer showed Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kraven, exploring his life from the beginning and diving deep into his ferocious character. The first trailer showed his ruthlessness when he bit a guy’s nose off and spat it out.
The aggressiveness and violence in the movie are something unique that was missing in other SSU movies and even the recent Marvel movies haven’t shown Kraven’s level of violence. His raw storyline and exploration of his hunting abilities will have a unique flavor for the fans so we may expect a great performance from the movie.
Currently, the movie release is expected on December 13, 2024, but we cannot say that it’s final. It was previously scheduled for October 2023, then August 2024. The fluctuation in the release date may be seen in the future but it will not impact the fact that Sony has to be ready with Kraven: The Hunter as their major project.
Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is currently running without Spider-Man and no one has any idea how Kraven will follow his main Marvel comic mission to hunt the web-slinger. Whether Sony will introduce their Spider-Man or link it to Marvel’s Spider-Man with multiverse, only time will tell.
